📏 Finished Size

When made using Double Knit (DK) yarn, your finished Chumpkin measures approximately:

  • 5½ inches (14 cm) high

  • 5½ inches (14 cm) from beak to tail

The finished size will vary depending on your yarn weight, hook size and crochet tension.

For a larger Chumpkin, simply use Aran or Chunky yarn with an appropriately sized crochet hook.

For Chumpkin shown, I used Stylecraft Special DK yarn:

  • 50 g Spice – large pumpkin

  • 20 g Spice – small pumpkin

  • 20 g Walnut – stalks and tendrils

  • 10 g Sunshine and Lipstick – beak and comb

  • 10 g Saffron – ears of corn

  • Approximately 2 g each of Saffron and Walnut – oak leaves

  • Approximately 3 g Saffron – feet

You'll also need:

  • 4 mm crochet hook

  • 3 mm crochet hook

  • 2.5 mm crochet hook

  • 2 mm crochet hook

  • 10 mm safety eyes

  • Toy stuffing

  • Darning needle

  • Long upholstery needle (recommended but not essential)

  • Stitch markers

  • Dressmaker's pins

  • Scissors

You can also use any Double Knit yarn of a similar weight from your own stash, so feel free to experiment with different autumnal colours to make Chumpkin completely your own.
